The Eighteenth Chapter is a novel that is inspirational and is set in ‘God’s Own Country’. How the protagonist Bharathi approaches life with courage, balance, abundance and joy amidst the many obstacles and pitfalls forms the essence of an almost true to life story. Many of Bharathi’s dreams are realised because of her steadfast belief in God and in herself. She is wise enough to see through the gimmicks of the so called godman who plays havoc in the lives of vulnerable people, which includes her own husband and her household. The way she takes charge of the many areas that calls for her attention in the absence of her husband sets her apart from the rest of the women of her time and the society she lives in.
